India A thrashes England Lions by 138 runs in the second match; Rahane and Vihari shine

Shreyas Iyer and Mayank Markande stood out with their performances in the match.

Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas IyerThe India A team routed England Lions in the second match of the five-match One-Day series played in Greenfield Stadium, Trivandrum.

England Lions captain Sam Billings had won the toss and chose to field first. James Porter sent back Anmolpreet Singh back for 7, but then Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari stitched a 181-run partnership for the second wicket.

Vihari made 92 off 85 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes, while skipper Rahane made 91 off 117 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Shreyas Iyer chipped in with fiery 65 off 47 balls as India a posted 303/6 in 50 overs.

Lewis Gregory (2/61) and Zak Chappell (2/47) were the main wicket-takers for the Lions.

In reply, the Lions’ innings was in shambles from the start, as Duckett (12), Hain (0), Pope (0) and Billings (12) all went back without troubling the Indian bowlers much. Alex Davies made 48, Gregory made 39 and will Jacks made 20, as England Lions folded for 165 in the 38th over.

Mayank MarkandeFor India A, Mayank Markande picked 3/32, while Shardul Thakur and Akshar Patel picked two wickets each.

Hanuma Vihari was named the Man of the Match for his innings of 92 runs.
