Parthiv Patel’s 94 and contributions from Gowtham and Shankar take India A to 467/8d

India A declared on a strong 467/8 after Parthiv Patel scored a marvelous 94 and all-rounders Vijay Shankar (62) and K Gowtham (57) added a quick-fire 89 runs for the 7th wicket in the first four-day match against New Zealand A at the Bay Oval in Tauranga on Saturday (November 17).

For New Zealand, A Tickner was the most successful bowler returning 4/80 in 22.1 overs.

In their reply, New Zealand A put up 176/1 by the end of the second day with Hamish Rutherford scoring 106* with Tim Seifert for the company.

New Zealand openers Rutherford and Will Young flourished as Mohammed Siraj went for five runs per over and Navdeep Saini went for four runs per over. However, the scoring rate was brought back by the pair of Gowtham and Shankar, with Gowtham picking the only wicket to fall.
