India U19 thrashes Sri Lanka U19 in the second Youth Test as well by inns and 147 runs

India U19 won the Youth Test series 2-0.

Mohit Jangra picked 4 wickets in SL U19 first innings

India U19 won the second Youth Test against Sri Lanka U19 by an innings and 147 runs in the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium at Hambantota. With this convincing and dominating win, India U19 won the two youth Test series 2-0.

India U19 batted first and put on a mammoth 613/8d in their only innings. The star of the Indian batting was Pawan Shah, who smashed 282 off 332 balls with 33 fours and 1 six. Incidentally, it is the second highest score in the youth Tests ever. He was supported by Atharwa Taide’ 177 (20 fours and 3 sixes) and 64 from Nehal Wadhera.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara scored a masterly 115 and GS Dinusha scored 51 as Sri Lanka U19 scored 316 runs in the first innings. Mohit Jangra was the pick of the bowlers with 4/76, while Y Mangwani, A Badoni, and S Desai picked two wickets apiece.

Sri Lanka was asked to follow on as they failed to score the required 413 to make India bat again.

However, second innings went worse than their first innings, as they succumbed to the spin of Siddharth Desai, who picked 4/40. He was well supported by Y Mangwani (2/9) and Badoni (2/17). Even Arjun Tendulkar picked 1/33.

KNM Fernando (25), MNK Fernando (28) and ST Mendis (26) were the only batsmen to cross 25 runs in the Sri Lankan innings as they were bundled out for 150 in 63rd over.

India U19 won the second Youth Test by an innings and 147 runs and swooped the two-match series 2-0.
