After obliterating hosts Malaysia in their first game of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament, India faced the fresh challenge of Thailand in their second match of the tournament.

Thailand won the match and decided to bowl first. Mona Meshram (32), Smriti Mandhana (29), Anuja Patil (22) and Harmanpreet Kaur (27* in 17 balls) took India to 132/4 on a difficult pitch to bat on. Wongpaka Liengprasert of Thailand picked 2/16, while R Padunglerd and N Boochatham picked one wicket a piece.

N Boochatham also shined with the bat, scoring 21, but Indian bowlers were just unplayable for the Thai batswomen. Only two other batswomen reached double figures as Pooja Vastrakar (1/5), Deepti Sharma (2/16) and Harmanpreet (3/11) demolished Thai batting and restricted them for 66/8 in 20 overs.

Harmanpreet Kaur was chosen as the player of the match for her 27* and 3/11. Indian women will next play Bangladesh Women on June 6 in the tournament.
