Rajasthan Royals locked horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first match of the Super Sunday (April 29) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Despite their batting failures in the last two affairs, Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat first. Although SRH didn’t get an ideal start as they lost Shikhar Dhawan for just 6, IPL debutant Alex Hales was determined to stamp his authority on the cash-rich league.

Hales, along with skipper Kane Williamson, forged a 92-run stand for the second wicket for SRH. While the England opener scored 39-ball 45 in his maiden IPL match, the SRH skipper's class act saw him play a stunning knock of 63 runs in 43 balls.

However, SRH lost the plot as soon as the duo of Hales and Williamson got dismissed in quick succession. Jofra Archer and Krishnappa Gowtham were the pick of the bowler for Royals. While Archer scalped 3 for 26 in his 4 overs, Gowtham claimed 2 for 18 in his quota of overs. SRH eventually ended up with a subpar total of 151/7 in 20 overs.

BRIEF SCORES:
SRH – 151/7 in 20 overs (Kane Williamson 63; Jofra Archer 3/26)
