Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne has recently achieved a career first in a different sport after bidding goodbye to cricket nearly a decade ago. 

Warne achieved a life-long goal: a hole-in-one on the golf course.

And, in typical Shane Warne fashion, it's not just any hole-in-one, but an ace on the fabled 16th hole at the Augusta National Golf Club, the legendary course that hosts the Masters Tournament each year.

"155 yards to a back right pin into the wind! Hit a 6 iron, one hop and in! Can’t believe it," Warne wrote in Twitter, with a flurry of exclamation points underlining his excitement.Was my first ever hole in one & what a place and pin to do it."

Warne joins illustrious company: there have been 19 hole-in-one shots off that tee in the 83 years of the Masters, including Australian Adam Scott who aced the hole with a seven-iron in 2012.

Warne wrote on his social media account that he "woke up this morning with a sense of huge excitement, nerves and anticipation" before the round.

"My aim is to break 90 of the back tees! FYI my handicap is 8.5 – can I do it?" before adding the hashtag #bucketlist to the post.

With 708 Test wickets under his belt and 1001 international scalps, Warne has seen and done it all on the cricket field. 

Warne led Rajasthan Royals to the title in its very first edition of the 2008 IPL. Since then, Rajasthan is yet to play a final in the tournament. In this year's auction, Rajasthan has built a new team with Warne joining them as the mentor cum coach. 

Warne is now working his way across the USA on a week-long golf trip with some friends, starting in Florida before heading to Atlanta to play Augusta.
