Irani Cup 2018: Rest of India struggle against brilliant Vidarbha bowling; Gurbani picks four wickets

Rest of India and Vidarbha are battling out for the 2018 Irani Cup.

Hanuma Vihari saved face for ROI with a sublime half century

Ranji champions Vidarbha piled on 800/7d thanks to brilliant innings from Wasim Jaffer (286) and Apoorv Wankhade (157*). Siddharth Kaul picked up 2/91 and was the best bowler from the Rest of India side.

In reply, Vidarbha bowlers ripped apart the Rest of India batting lineup with Rajneesh Gurbani being the most brilliant bowler of them all. ROI lost their opener R Samarth for a duck and Mayank Agarwal for 11. Prithvi Shaw hit 51 from 64 balls with 7 fours and 1 six and ROI skipper Karun Nair hit 21.

ROI then lost KS Bharath for a duck and R Ashwin for 8. Amidst this rubble, Hanuma Vihari (81*) stood tall with a brilliant half-century. He was aided nicely by Jayant Yadav (62*), who held his own against Vidarbha bowlers and scored a brilliant fifty.

Vihari and Yadav added 138* runs for the 7th wicket for ROI.

Rajneesh Gurbani (4/46) was the best Vidarbha bowler with four wickets to his name, while Umesh Yadav and Aditya Thakare picked up one wicket each.
