Deodhar Trophy 2018: R Samarth century trumps Manoj Tiwary hundred as Karnataka beat IND-B

Deodhar Trophy 2018 went underway on March 4.

Siddharth Kaul and Shreyas Gopal were the pick of the bowlers from their respective teams

Vijay Hazare Trophy winners Karnataka and India B met in the second match of the Deodhar Trophy 2018 at Dharamshala. India B has already won a match, defeating India A in the opening match of the tournament.

Karnataka won the toss and elected to bat first. Mayank Agarwal hit 44 to give his team a good start, after Karun Nair was dismissed by Kaul for 10. After that Pavan Deshpande (46), CM Gautam (28) and K Gowtham (20) provided excellent support to R Samarth who slammed a superlative century (117 off 115 balls with 17 fours and 1 six). Samarth kept the tempo going and was dismissed in the 48th over.

Karnataka scored 296/8 in 50 overs. Siddharth Kaul picked 3/59, while Harshal Patel (2/59) and Jayant Yadav (2/48) were the pick of the bowlers for India B.

India B was in trouble in the chase as Prasidh Krishna removed openers Bharat and Easwaran; while T Pradeep removed Hanuma Vihari for just 23 runs on board. Shreyas Iyer scored 33 off 43 balls to steady the ship with Manoj Tiwary, before Binny dismissed him.

Manoj Tiwary kept India B in the hunt with 120 in 110 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes, before Gopal had him stumped by Gautam. Siddhesh Lad played a lone hand in the end overs, as the required run rate rose.

Lad was dismissed by Gowtham for 70 in 78 balls with six fours, as India-B folded for 290/9 in 50 overs.

Karnataka registered a win by 6 runs.
