COC Predicted India 15 men squad for ICC World Cup 2019

The 2019 World Cup will be hosted by England and Wales jointly.

Virat Kohli will have the onus of making India World Champion again

ICC World Cup 2019 will be played in England and Wales and will see the top 10 teams of One Day International format vying for the title of World Champions. Australia is the current World Champions, who will be defending their crown at the quadrennial event.

One of the biggest contenders for the World Cup crown based on current form is the Indian team. Under the tutelage of an aggressive captain in Virat Kohli and with a calm headed senior player like MS Dhoni guiding the young team; India definitely has a big upper hand as compared to the other teams.

Currently ranked no.1 in the ICC ODI rankings, the Indian team will be eager to keep the winning momentum going until they win the World Cup trophy.

Circle of Cricket predicts India’s 15 men squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Some players in the team have a cemented spot and will continue to do so until and unless any major injury rules any of them out. This predicted India squad is based on based on current form and is not official in any form or manner.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will be the preferred openers for India. Both have a tremendous record as openers and Rohit Sharma has been a phenomenon in ODIs, being the only batsman with three double hundreds in the format. Once he gets going, Rohit will give you a big score and will most probably stay till the end.

Shikhar Dhawan-Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be one of the most dangerous top order in 2019 World Cup

Shikhar on the other side gets going from the start and makes up for Rohit’s slow starts. Dhawan makes sure that India takes full advantage of the first 10 overs power play. Dhawan’s stroke play complements Rohit’s class and the two will have a big role to play in the 2019 World Cup.

The backup opener and wicketkeeper for the team will be KL Rahul, who was the fastest Indian to complete the troika of centuries in all the three formats and has cemented his spot in the Test side.

Virat Kohli will be the man to look out for in the 2019 World Cup for India. Currently, one of the most dangerous batsmen either batting first or chasing, Virat Kohli is known for making centuries by the rate of knots.

Next comes in MS Dhoni, who will be taking care of the wicketkeeping as well as giving the middle order its spine. His finishing abilities might be on the wane, but he is still one of the sharpest minds in the game and his experience will be the best thing for India in the World Cup.

The middle order will also have names of Manish Pandey and Suresh Raina, with either Raina or Dhoni batting at no.4 and Pandey batting at no.5. They will have the onus of keeping the Indian scorecard ticking and setting a platform up for the finishers to blast off in the death overs.

Hardik Pandya will be the designated finisher for team India along with either Raina or Pandey. Pandya’s only job will be to go out there and start sending the balls over the boundary from ball one and take India to a big total or finish off matches with overs to spare and keep the net run rate up.

The spin bowling duties will fall on the shoulders of Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Akshar Patel. While the spin twins Kuldeep and Chahal have already made their mark in the limited overs arena, Akshar Patel is the experienced backup for them and will come in handy in situations where some quick runs are needed with the bat. Some England pitches offer good turn and on those pitches, Kohli might go in with three spinners and that’s where Akshar’s ability with the bat will come in handy.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Shami and Bhunveshwar Kumar will spearhead the fast bowling department | Getty

The fast bowling duties will be shared by Mohd Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and the backup will be provided by Shardul Thakur. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have a proven track record in ODI; while Mohd Shami was India’s best bowler in the previous World Cup in 2015.

Shardul Thakur’s performance in the South Africa ODI, where he picked up four wickets has made him a part of this 2019 World Cup touring party. He will provide a good backup to the more experienced Shami, Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar.

COC Predicted squad:
Virat Kohli (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Akshar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami, Shardul Thakur
