Results summary of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Indian domestic cricket’s premier One-Day competition, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 went underway on 5th February with all the domestic teams participating for the crown of One-Day champions. The teams are divided into four groups and top two teams from each of the groups will qualify for the QFs.

Here is the summary of matches on 9th Feb:

RAJASTHAN V MUMBAI

AV Gautam - Rajasthan

Siddhesh Lad hit 100 (8 fours and 4 sixes), his second century in the tournament and with Shaw’s 52 in 54 balls; took Mumbai to 268/8. Khaleel Ahmed picked 4/35 for Rajasthan. Rajasthan’s AV Gautam hit 149* in 136 balls with 16 fours and 4 sixes and with MK Lomror hitting 81 in 77 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes, chased down the target with relative ease to give Rajasthan a win by 6 wickets.

RAJ 272/4 beat MUM 268/8 by 6 wkts


CHHATTISGARH V J&K

Ahmad Banday - J&K

CG batted first and scored 251/8 with Shashank Chandrakar (59) and Vishal Singh (48) being the main scorers. Ram Dayal (3/35) and Rasool (3/55) were the top wicket takers for J&K. Ahmad Banday (75 with 8 fours and 2 sixes) and 44 each from Rasool and Shubham Pundir kept J&K in hunt of the target. But Pankaj Rao (3/44) and Shivendra Singh (3/46) pegged them back with regular wickets and J&K fell short by 5 runs, ending on 246.

SERVICES V VIDARBHA

Diwesh Pathania - Services

Vidarbha batted first and scored 267/9 despite being 50/5 at one stage. AV Wankhade (73), Karn Sharma (54) and Akshay Karnewar (45) were the main scorers for Vidarbha. Raushan Raj picked 3/49 to destroy their top order.

Services started well with Soumik Chatterjee (54), but lost their middle order for cheap. Diwesh Pathania bought them back in the game with 100* in 77 balls 11 fours and 6 sixes, but Services fell short by 17 runs in the end.

SER 250/9 lost to VID 267/9 by 17 runs


HYDERABAD V SAURASHTRA

Akshath Reddy - Hyderabad

Saurashtra batted first and hit 277/7 with S Vyas (57), P Mankad (62) and A Vasavada (49) being the main scorers. Md Siraj picked 3/46 for Hyderabad. Akshath Reddy hit 94 with 10 fours and 1 six and captain Ambati Rayudu hit 76, along with Akash Bhandari (41*) to take Hyderabad to 278/6 and won the match by 4 wickets.

ANDHRA V GOA

Ricky Bhui - Andhra

Snehal Kauthankar (43), S Prabhudessai (38) and Keenan (34) were the main contributors to Goa’s total of 188 runs. Girinath Reddy continued his good work by picking 4/32 and A Bandaru picked 2/37. However the chase wasn’t smooth for Andhra as L Garg (3/32) and V Prabhudessai (3/43) of Goa troubled their batting lineup. Ricky Bhui remained not out on 56 and KS Bharat (30) took Andhra to victory with just 1 wicket in hand.

TAMIL NADU V MADHYA PRADESH

Rajat Patidar - Madhya Pradesh

N Jagadeeshan (99 with 11 fours and 1 six), V Shankar (84 in 62 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes) were the cornerstones of TN’s 302/9. AS Kushwah picked 3/59, while I Pandey and P Datey picked 2 wickets each. MP made a mockery of the chase with Rajat Patidar (158 with 20 fours and 4 sixes) and Rameez Khan (78*) took MP to win with 9 wickets in hand in 46 overs.

TN 302/9 lost to MP 303/2 by 8 wkts


HIMACHAL V KERALA

Sachin Baby - Kerala

Kerala batted first and scored 271/7 with 65 from Vishnu Vinod and 95 from Sachin Baby (8 fours and 3 sixes) scoring he bulk of runs. PP Jaswal 3/51 for HP. However, HP chased down the target with 1 wicket in hand. NR Gangta (62) and AK Kaushik (83*) were the main scorers for Himachal.

UTTAR PRADESH V BENGAL

Akshdeep Nath - Uttar Pradesh

Akshdeep Nath (103*), Md Saif (50*), Umang Sharma (51) and Prashant Gupta (60) took UP to 329/4 against Bengal. Bengal’s reply was based on V Singh’s 147 with 14 fours and 3 sixes, while A Majumdar (51) and W Chatterjee (35) supported him. But Ankit Rajpoot (3/51) and two wickets each by K Tyagi and MM Khan stopped Bengal 7 runs short at 322.

DELHI V MAHARASHTRA

Dhruv Shorey - Delhi

SM Kazi (59) and V Zol (46) took Maharashtra to 246. Pradeep Sangwan took 5/41 and P Negi picked 3/40 for Delhi.  Delhi chased the total down with Hiten Dalal making 87 with 14 fours and 1 six and Dhruv Shorey hit 103* with 16 fours and N Rana hit 49* to win the match by 9 wickets.
