Results summary of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Indian domestic cricket’s premier One-Day competition, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 went underway on 5th February with all the domestic teams participating for the crown of One-Day champions. The teams are divided into four groups and top two teams from each of the groups will qualify for the QFs.

Here is the summary of matches on 8th Feb:


 Ishan Kishan | Getty

Services batted first and scored 202/9 with HR Sethi making 66 and Diwesh Pathania making 43 in 27 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Varun Aaron picked 3/20 for Jharkhand. Jharkhand’s reply was led by captain Ishan Kishan who smacked 106 in 75 balls with 13 fours and 4 sixes and Saurabh Tiwary, who made 56. Jharkhand won the match by 5 wickets.

Faiz Fazal

Faiz Fazal’s 103 in 97 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes was the highlight of Vidarbha’s 350/7. He was helped by RL Jangid (81 in 62 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes) and AV Wankhade (66 in 43 balls with 5 sixes and 3 fours). In reply, Hyderabad were blown away by Karn Sharma (3/38) and SB Wagh (2/20). Sumanth Kolla hit 30 and Ambati Rayudu hit 21, but Hyderabad folded for 113 and lost the match by 237 runs.

HS Bhatia

Dhruv Raval (51), Priyank Panchal (65 with 7 fours) and RH Bhatt (56) were the cornerstones of Gujarat’s total of 253/6. Anshul Tripathi took 4/37 for Gujarat. Madhya Pradesh reached the total with 4 wickets to spare. Rameez Khan (75 with 11 fours and 2 sixes) and HS Bhatia (76 with 4 sixes and 4 fours) were the top run getters for Madhya Pradesh.

Swapnil Singh

Baroda batted first and hit 250/9 with Vishnu Solanki making 67 and Deepak Hooda making 46. AR Mishra picked 3/57 for Haryana. Haryana tried its best to chase down the total, and SG Rohilla (61) and JJ Yadav (55) were the top scorers. But Swapnil Singh (3/42) and LI Meriwala (2/17) stopped Haryana for 199 runs and won the match for Baroda by 51 runs.

Gurkeerat Mann

Gurkeerat Mann’s 106 with 8 fours and 3 sixes was the saving grace in Punjab’s total of 225 against Odisha. Deepak Behera (3/19) was the leading wicket taker for Odisha. Barinder Sran (4/22) demolished the Odisha batting for 139. Shesdeep Patra top scored with 26 runs, but Odisha fell short by 86 runs.

R Ashwin

R Ashwin hit 41 as Tamil Nadu struggled to 183 against Mumbai, as Dhawal Kulkarni took 3/44 and Shubham Ranjane took 2/28. Ranjane also played a brilliant hand of 59* with 2 sixes and 6 fours, after the Mumbai top order was blown away by Tamil Nadu bowling. R Ashwin picked 3/35 and K Vignesh picked 2/32, but couldn’t stop Mumbai from winning the match by 2 wickets.

Parvez Rasool

Saurashtra batted first and scored 267/6 with AV Vasavada making 85* in 73 balls with 6 sixes and P Mankad made 67 in 48 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. J&K chased down the total with relative ease as AO Banday hit 65 with 11 fours, Parvez Rasool hit 67* and Shubham Pundir hit 55 in the chase. J&K defeated Saurashtra by 6 wickets.

Darshan Misal

Rajasthan hit 266/8 against Goa. CP Singh hit 71* in 62 balls. Aditya Garhwal hit 40, while Rahul Chahar hit 30 and AV Choudhary hit 31 in 17 balls. Amogh Desai took 4/41 for Goa. Keenan made 46, Suyash Prabhudessai hit 59 to take Goa closer to the total. Thanks to Darshan Misal's fighting half century (66*), Goa won the match by 3 wickets

RAJ 266/8 lost to GOA 267/7 by 3 wkts


Prasidh Murali Krishna

Mayank Agarwal made 84 with 10 fours and 2 sixes, Karun Nair made 58, R Samarth hit 70*, as Karnataka put 303/6 on the scoreboard. Assam tried their best to chase with Sibshankar Roy making 64 and Abu Nechim Ahmed making 43* in the end, but Assam fell short by 111 runs and was folded for 192.Prasidh Murali Krishna picked 6/33 for Karnataka.
