ICC U19 World Cup 2018: India beats Bangladesh by 131 runs to set up semi-final date with Pakistan

India will play Pakistan in the semifinals on January 30.

India U19 team decimated Bangladesh U19 by 131 runs in the fourth quarter-final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2018 in Queenstown.

Prithvi Shaw won the toss and decided to bat first. Manjot Kalra was dismissed for 9, but Shaw hit 40 and Shubman Gill proved to be India’s batting hero with 86 in 94 balls with 9 fours. Spinner Abhishek Sharma also hit some boundaries in his 49 balls 50. India ended up making 265 in 50 overs.

Qazi Onik took 3/48, while Nayeem Hasan and Saif Hassan took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh.

Pinak Ghosh gave Bangladesh U19 a good start with 43 runs but got no support from anyone else. The next highest score was Afif Hossain’s 18, while some other batsmen reached double figures, but no one went on to make a big score. Kamlesh Nagarkoti picked 3/18, while Abhishek Sharma picked 2/11 and Shivam Mavi took 2/27 to take India to a 131 runs win.

Now India will play Pakistan in the semifinals on January 30 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
