There are some of the International cricketers who have had a marvelous 2017 year, while some other players have had a poor run in the same year. With one more year coming to an end, team Circle of Cricket picks the flop ODI XI team of the year based on their performance throughout the year.

Top Order: Jason Roy, Mohammad Hafeez, Soumya Sarkar

The first opener in the Flop XI team has represented England at international level in 48 ODI matches who is none other than Jason Roy, he had very poor run in the 2017 year with only scoring 533 runs in 16 matches played at an average of 33.31. Roy started off his 2017 brilliantly with three back to back fifties but did not continue that form in the rest of the series.

Our pick for second opening would be Soumya Sarkar of Bangladesh who also had a critical year with 243 runs in 12 ODI matches at an average of just 20.25 he becomes our second opener for the Flop XI team of the 2017 year. Soumya is an elegant batsman but had a disappointing year.

1st down top order batsmen of our flop XI team will be Mohammad Hafeez because in 2017 he also only scored 555 runs in 18 matches with an average of 37. You expect your 1st down top order batsman to score runs in a heavy quantity but Hafeez was far away as he lost his focus in this year.

Middle Order- Dinesh Chandimal, Glenn Maxwell, Thisara Perera, Ravindra Jadeja

Coming to the middle order our preference for 2nd down batsman would be Dinesh Chandimal who will be standing behind the wickets too as the wicket-keeper our team. He has scored 255 ODI runs in the whole year in 15 matches at an average 18.21 which is comparatively too low for any wicketkeeping batsman.

The 3rd down player in our flop XI team would definitely be Glenn Maxwell because as he was flop throughout the year with only 272 ODI runs in 13th Match with an average of 27.2 runs per match. If you are a slogger and pinch hitter then it's your duty to be on strike and take the game away for his own team.

4th down will come to the Captain of our Flop XI which is Thisara Perera for his captaincy skill, as a captain you are supposed to win games for your country but that has really not happened for Perera in 2017. He is an all-rounder but his all-rounding skills have not been evaluated properly this year with only 219 few runs at an average of 18.25 in 14 ODI matches, this is not at all you expect your Captain to play.

Coming next to the spinners and 5th down our pick of choice would be Ravindra Jadeja for sure because of his poor show at One Day Internationals with only taking 8 wickets in 10 ODI matches at an average of 60.12 which is too high for any bowler he will try to look at his form and change it next year.

Bowlers - Ravichandran Ashwin, James Faulkner, Lasith Malinga and Pat Cummins

Ravichandran Ashwin will come next for our team with another disappointing show from an Indian bowler, he conceded 430 runs with only taking 8 wickets at an average of 53 plus which is too high for your main line spinner. Because of his poor show, Ashwin has been dropped against South Africa in ODI squad of India.

James Faulkner will come 7th down for our Flop XI as he did not have a good year with the bowl with only grabbing 12 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 32 is not said to be great in ODIs. It means he took a wicket after every 32 runs so he is going to be featured in our Flop XI.

Lasith Malinga is going to open the bowling attack for the Flop XI 2017 because he only took 10 wickets in 13 ODI matches at a bowling average of 62.3 which is said to be so much for an opening bowler. His presence will definitely affect the team to lose more matches. He has conceded enough runs to confirm his berth in our team of flops.

The most surprising selection of the team is the last player on the team which is the Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins. Yes, he is also in the above-listed players who did not perform quite well this year as he took only 16 wickets in his bag in 15 ODI matches at an average of 44.12 which is disappointing on his part.

Circle of Cricket's FLOP XI team for 2017 - Jason Roy, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Hafeez, Dinesh Chandimal (WK), Glenn Maxwell, Thisara Perera (C), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, James Faulkner, Lasith Malinga, Pat Cummins.
