Mumbai provided a thrilling contest between bat and ball, as Sri Lankan bowlers made it extremely tough for Indian batsmen to win the match.

India bowled first in the Mumbai T20I, thanks to the first toss win in the series by Rohit Sharma. Sri Lanka lost cheap wickets up front as Jaydev Unadkat continued his impressive run with the ball in the shortest format.

From 18/3, a 38 run partnership between Sadeera (21) and Asela Gunaratne (36) took Sri Lanka to a decent total, but Hardik Pandya removed both of them to reduce Sri Lanka to 85/6. Dasun Shanaka slammed 29 runs in the end to take Sri Lanka to 135/7.

Mohammed Siraj didn’t have a good day with the ball, as he went for 45 runs in his 4 overs to take one wicket. Unadkat picked two wickets for 15 runs and Hardik Pandya returned the figures of 2/25. Debutant Washington Sundar also picked up his maiden wicket in T20Is, giving away 22 runs.

India was expected to blow away the opposition, but Sri Lankan bowlers kept picking up wickets to keep themselves in the game. Chameera removed Rahul for 4 and Shanaka accounted for Indian captain Rohit Sharma for 27. Shreyas Iyer (30 in 32 balls) and Manish Pandey (32 in 29 balls) added 42 runs before a Manish Pandey straight hit cost Iyer his wicket; while Chameera bowled Pandey.

Hardik Pandya gave Dickwella catching practice and it came down to MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik to take India to the finishing line.

Dinesh Karthik (18 off 12 balls) hit a massive six to bring the target closer and MS Dhoni scored 16 runs of 10 balls and hit the winning runs to take India to the win.

Rohit Sharma won his first T20I series as Indian captain 3-0.
