CWC 2019: Marcus Stoinis ruled out of Australia's match versus Pakistan; cover called in

Australia play Pakistan on Wednesday, June 12.

Mitchell Marsh called in as repalcement for Stoinis| GettyAustralia has been struck by the injury bug as they have called in Mitchell Marsh as a cover up for Marcus Stoinis, who picked up an injury during Australia’s match against India in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Stoinis has been ruled out of the game against Pakistan on Wednesday in Taunton due to a side strain, but Australia will wait to take a final decision on replacing him for the remainder of the tournament.

Stoinis collected 2-62 bowling seven overs as India racked up 5-352 in their 50 overs against Australia at The Oval on Sunday night. But scored a duck as he was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the second ball he faced.

Stoinis has not been officially replaced in Australia's World Cup squad. ICC rules allow an injured player to be replaced, but they cannot later rejoin the squad if they regain full fitness. Lack of a second all-rounder in the team for the Pakistan match has put the Aussie selectors in quandary.
