पाकिस्तान के प्रसिद्ध समाचार चैनल समा टीवी के साथ एक साक्षात्कार में उमर अकमल ने साल 2015 के विश्वकप मैच में कट्टर प्रतिद्वंद्वियों भारत के खिलाफ स्पॉट फिक्सिंग प्रस्ताव के बारे में कुछ चौंकाने वाले खुलासे किये हैं |
स्पोर्ट्सकीड़ा की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार अकमल ने कहा हैं कि, "मुझे विश्व कप के दौरान दो गेंदों को छोड़ने के लिए एक प्रस्ताव दिया गया था और वे इसके लिए मुझे $200,000 का भुगतान करने के लिए तैयार थे | यह साल 2015 विश्व कप में भारत के खिलाफ हमारा पहला मैच था |"
विकेटकीपर-बल्लेबाज ने यह भी बताया हैं कि ये प्रस्ताव असामान्य नहीं थे और इसी तरह के लोगों से उनका सामना अतीत में भी हुआ था | उन्होंने कहा हैं कि, "भारत के साथ मैचों में मुझे कुछ बहाने बनाने और खेल से बाहर निकलने के लिए कहा गया था, जिसके लिए मुझे भुगतान किया जाएगा, लेकिन मैंने उन लोगों को बताया कि मैं पाकिस्तान के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध हूँ और ऐसे प्रस्तावों के साथ मुझसे कभी भी संपर्क नहीं करना |"
अकमल के इस खुलासे के बाद पूरे देश में वे सुर्खियों में ही बने हुए हैं, क्योंकि क्रिकेटरों के लिए किए गए किसी भी दृष्टिकोण की रिपोर्ट करना अनिवार्य है | अब ये देखना दिलचस्प होगा, कि पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट बोर्ड (पीसीबी) ऐसे प्रस्तावों से अवगत था या नहीं | लेकिन लोगो ने ट्विटर पर जरूर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया दी हैं -
