CWC 2019: BalleBaazi Fantasy Team of the Tournament

With the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup wrapped up, it is an appropriate time for us to take a look at the BalleBaazi Fantasy Team of the tournament.

As an epic tournament concludes, we take a look at the 11 players who stood out in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

1. David Warner:

David Warner is the first name on our team. Not only because he opens the batting for our line-up. But because he has been one of the most valuable players in the tournament. David Warner finished as the 2nd top run scorer in the tournament with 647 runs from 10 innings. He was a must-have option for our fantasy sides.

2. Rohit Sharma:

The Hit-Man was arguably India’s top performer in the tournament. Rohit Sharma hit 5 magnificent centuries in the World Cup and looked explosive right from the get-go. He also finished as the top run-getter in the tournament accumulating 648 runs from 9 innings. The Hit-Man certainly had a tournament to remember.

3. Kane Williamson:

New Zealand's ever-reliable batting force was in stunning form in this World Cup. Williamson, who was inches away from guiding his side to their first ever ICC Cricket World Cup title last night, received the player of the tournament award from Sachin Tendulkar in the post-match presentation ceremony. Williamson smacked 2 centuries in this tournament with 578 runs scored from 9 innings and is nailed on in our side at the No. 3 position.

4. Shakib al-Hasan:

The legendary Bangladesh all-rounder was certainly the Most Valuable Player in the tournament. Shakib finished as the tournament’s 3rd-highest run scorer with 606 runs scored from 8 innings at a mammoth average of 86.57. Shakib has also picked up 11 wickets in the tournament thus underlining his overall value to the Bangladesh team.

5. Ben Stokes:

Ben Stokes has been the lone warrior in the English middle order in this World Cup. Though not as explosive as he normally is, Stokes displayed incredible consistency in this tournament and is a perfect candidate for the Number 5 spot in our team. The English all-rounder also picked up the man of the match award in the World Cup final. Stokes scored 468 runs from at an average of 66.85 and is an excellent option for your BalleBaazi sides.

6. Alex Carey:

Australia's explosive wicket-keeper Alex Carey is also the custodian behind the wickets for our BalleBaazi team of the tournament. Carey, who turned out to be one of the most dangerous batsmen in the tournament, scored 375 runs from just 9 innings at a remarkable average of 62.50 in this World Cup. He is the best possible candidate for the No. 6 slot in our team.

7. Jimmy Neesham:

It would not be a stretch to say that Jimmy Neesham has been the best all-rounder in the tournament. Neesham chipped in for the Kiwis with crucial runs down the order while picking up important wickets in the middle of the innings. He contributed 256 runs in this World Cup while also picking up 15 wickets. He is an excellent addition to our side at No. 7.

8. Jofra Archer:

Jofra Archer finished as the 3rd highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 20 wickets. Archer, who has been England’s go-to bowler, has several weapons in his armoury that make an important cog in our wheel – a venomous Yorker, a vicious short-ball and a well-disguised slower ball. He also bowled the all-important super over that won his country the World Cup last night. Snap him up for your side in the future!

9. Mitchell Starc:

The leading wicket-taker in the tournament finds his place in our team at the No. 9 slot. Mitchell Starc has been phenomenal for the Australians in this tournament so far. He picked up 27 wickets from 10 innings at a meager bowling average of 18.59. Apart from his numbers, Starc delivered for the Aussies when it mattered the most. He broke up important partnerships at crucial times by picking up wickets at regular intervals. Starc is nailed on in our side.

10. Lockie Ferguson:

Lockie Ferguson has been one of the biggest finds of the tournament. Ferguson finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 21 scalps from 9 innings. Lockie Ferguson found a unique knack of picking up wickets in the middle overs as well as at the end of the innings. He is an exceptional cricketer and hence finds a place in our XI.

11. Jasprit Bumrah:

The final spot in our team has been taken up by India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah picked up 18 wickets from 9 innings at an average of 20.61. The Indian quickie, who bowled some remarkable spells towards the end of the innings for his country, takes up the final spot in our BalleBaazi Fantasy team of the tournament.
