PAK v BAN 2020: "Nothing serious", scans clear Naseem Shah of any major injury

Young Naseem complained of pain around his left rib cage on Day 3 in Rawalpindi.

Naseem Shah | GettyPakistan's 16-year-old fast bowling sensation Naseem Shah complained of pain around his left rib cage on Day 3 of the Rawalpindi Test against Bangladesh after becoming the youngest to take a hat-trick in Test cricket. He subsequently missed the remainder of the game.

But thankfully for Pakistan, the child prodigy has been relieved of the scare of any serious injury after undergoing MRI scans.

"This is nothing serious," Naseem himself said after the match as Pakistan won by an innings and 44 runs. "It's only a strain in muscles and as a precaution, I didn't bowl today. I will take two days to start again."

Managing Naseem's workload should be a major priority for the team management led by head coach Misbah Ul Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis, two of the country's experienced former cricketers, considering his body hasn't yet regularly gone through the grind of first-class cricket.

Naseem has played only seven first-class games outside his four Tests, including a famous debut in Brisbane on the tour of Australia in November where he missed the next Test in Adelaide after finding issues with his knee.

He also got sidelined for the majority of the domestic season in 2018 because of a back injury and subsequently missed the whole PSL that year.
