Team India might feature in at least one Day-Night Test during its tour of Australia later this year after skipper Virat Kohli gave thumbs up to the idea on Monday (January 13).

The Indian captain’s word came just prior to the start of the three-match ODI series at home versus the Aussies.

“We’re ready and up for the challenge – whether it’s Gabba, Perth… it doesn’t matter to us. It’s become a very exciting feature of any Test series and we’re open to playing day-night Tests,” Kohli told reporters on the eve of the first ODI in Mumbai.

As per a report published in PTI, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah met the top officials of Cricket Australia (CA) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in Mumbai on Monday.

It is learnt that the topics of discussion in the meeting were ICC’s proposed four-day Tests, one global meet per year, four-nation ODI Super-Series, Day-Night Tests among others.

Even though no official statement was made after the meeting, it is understood that both BCCI and CA are on same page as far as playing one pink-ball Test in Australia is concerned.

Ever since India played its first-ever Day-Night Test in Kolkata against Bangladesh in November last year, there have been speculations whether the No.1 ranked side will continue to embrace the new concept and do that overseas having previously denied Australia's request to go ahead with the traditional encounter in Adelaide.

“The modalities are yet to be finalised but chances look bright that India will play a Test match under lights during their next tour of Australia,” a senior BCCI functionary told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

The official also confirmed that no such proposal has come from New Zealand Cricket. India will play two Tests in Wellington (21-25 February) and Christchurch (29 February-4 March) during its upcoming tour of New Zealand.
