Kevin Pietersen has come out in support of England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler who was heard abusing Vernon Philander on the stump mic during the second Test at Newlands.

England beat South Africa in what turned out to be a thrilling Test after the home side almost saw through the final day. Ben Stokes once again stood up for England in crunch moments and got them a hard-earned Test victory.

However, a moment on the final day saw the emotions getting out there as England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler was heard on stump mic abusing batsman Vernon Philander who did not move out of the way even though he saw a throw coming towards him from mid-off.

Buttler said, “Get out the f*****g way”. Philander turned towards him and Stokes from first slip joined in too. He said, “Don’t stare him out. He’s got a point, mate.

Jos Buttler received criticism from a lot of fans around the world as the video went viral on social media. Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen came out in support of him saying that the keeper got a lot of criticism for something that was okay in Test cricket.

He wrote, “LOTS having a go at @josbuttler here! LEAVE HIM ALONE! This is Test Cricket and believes me, this is nothing compared to lots that goes on, on the field. Series is alive big time! END OF!

The series leveled at 1-1 will now move to Port Elizabeth where the third Test will start from January 16.
