England superstar Ben Stokes has produced yet another match-winnings performance to guide the tourists to a comprehensive 189-run win over South Africa in the second Test to level the ongoing four-match Test series in Cape Town on Tuesday (January 7).

After helping England to win maiden World Cup 2019 and draw Ashes series against Australia last year at home, the all-rounder has now helped the Three Lions to register their first Test match victory at Newlands since 1957 with enthralling spell of 3/35 with the ball on Tuesday.

Stokes claimed the last three wickets in the space of 14 deliveries, dismissing Dwaine Pretorius and Anrich Nortje on consecutive balls before removing Vernon Philander to win the Cape Town Test.

Following the record-breaking victory at Newlands, the 28-year-old said the series-levelling win was brilliant for the ongoing Test series and it will be remembered for a long time.

Stokes said, “Brilliant. When you have results in the first two games, it makes things very interesting. We will all remember this for a long time and I'm sure South Africa will remember it for a long time. It will go down as one of the greats. It was an amazing game to be a part of.”

Meanwhile, the all-rounder was also against the ICC’s idea of making Test cricket a four-day affair, saying the traditional format of the game should always stay five days.

He further explained, “The fact it went all the way to the wire proves why Test cricket should be five days and should always stay five days. It must be amazing as a spectator to be living through these emotions but being a player on the field, going through the highs and lows of what Test cricket can do to you on a day-to-day basis is just awesome.”

Stokes signed off by saying, “Test cricket is not made for four days, it's made for five. It's called Test cricket for a reason. They should change it to 'easy cricket' if they make it four days.”
