Australia was really good at MCG as they handed a 247-run loss to the touring Kiwis in the second Test match of the three-match series and have bagged yet another Test series. The MCG pitch which was assessed to be dangerous in the abandoned Marsh Sheffield Shield match earlier this month offered seam and spin throughout the match.

According to the Aussies off-spinner Nathan Lyon, the groundstaff produced a "brilliant" cricket wicket for the Boxing Day Test against New Zealand.

AUS v NZ 2019-20: "Did you ever rest for Stuart MacGill", Nathan Lyon responds to Warne's suggestion of dropping him

It's my ninth Boxing Day Test and this is by far the best wicket we've played on. There's been a contest between bat and ball consistently. Even towards the end there you saw the fast bowlers, they were still getting the reward and there was some spin and bounce there,” Lyon said.

The 32-year-old then went on rank the MCG wicket to be by far the best wicket he has ever played on as he said, “By far the best wicket I've been a part of.

Matt Page, the MCC curator was under the spotlight after an abandoned Shield match, as well as last year's Test against India, did a great job in this match as Australia wrapped up the match in just 3 days.

Even Coach Justin Langer praised the wicket by saying, “It was a brilliant wicket. There was a lot of discussion about the MCG wicket.  What a fantastic wicket. This is how Test cricket should be played.

After the MCG Test, Australia will take on New Zealand in the third Test scheduled at Sydney from 3-7 January.
