Resuming their innings from 72/4 on Day 3, South Africa added 200 more runs before getting bowled out by England in the third innings of the ongoing Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

Rassie van der Dussen was top-scorer for the hosts in their second innings with 51. Night watchman Anrich Nortje also made a valuable contribution of 40 while wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock chipped in with 34 as Proteas set the target of 376 in 4th innings for the visitors.

Although Jofra Archer (5 for 102) proved quite expensive, he was the most successful bowler for England on the day. It was his third five-wicket haul in the longest format.

Batting in the fourth innings, the tourists got off to a solid start with openers Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley adding 92 runs for the first wicket.

Keshav Maharaj broke the partnership by removing Sibley for 29 but Burns held the one end firmly. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 77 and forged a stand of 29 runs for the second wicket with Joe Denly (10*) as England reached 121/1 at stumps on Day 3, still needing 255 runs to pull off a spectacular victory.

Brief Scores:

South Africa 284 & 272 all out (Rassie van der Dussen 51; Jofra Archer 5/102) lead England 181 & 121/1 (Rory Burns 77*; Keshav Maharaj 1/16) by 255 runs at stumps on Day 3.
