AUS v PAK 2019: Nathan Lyon's 16th five-fer helps Australia finish the Test series 2-0

Pakistan suffered yet another whitewash down under.

The Aussies dominated the proceedings | GettyOff-spinner Nathan Lyon picked up five wickets for the 16th time in Test cricket as Australia bundled out Pakistan for just 239 in the second innings and wrapped up an innings and 48-run victory in Adelaide to finish the series 2-0.

While Lyon returned with figures of 5/69, pacer Josh Hazlewood wasn't far behind taking 3/63.

Shan Masood (68) and Asad Shafiq (57) scored half-centuries but the rest of the Pakistani batting line-up struggled badly, a disappointing theme followed throughout the last two weeks.

Earlier in the game, Australia piled on a mountain-like 589/3 (declared) with David Warner scoring an epic 335 not out and Marnus Labuschagne contributing a solid 162. These were their second 100+ scores for the series.

The only time Pakistan bowled, left-arm seamer Shaheen Afridi (3/88) got all the breakthroughs while his partners were smashed around the park.

In response, the first Test centurion Babar Azam continued his excellent form through a solid 97 and capable lower-order batsman Yasir Shah had the moment of his tour with a rare maiden century batting No.8.

But those two were the only ones who provided some fight as Pakistan succumbed to 302 all out.

Mitchell Starc bowled a fantastic spell and bagged figures of 6/63 in the first innings.

This was Pakistan's 14th straight Test defeat in Australia.

Brief Scores:

Australia 589/3 declared (David Warner 335*; Shaheen Afridi 3/88) defeated Pakistan 302/10 (Yasir Shah 113; Mitchell Starc 6/63) & 239/10 (Shan Masood 68; Nathan Lyon 5/69) by an innings and 48 runs
