16-year-old fast bowler Naseem Shah is all set to make his international debut for Pakistan in the upcoming first Test of the two-match series against Australia to be held at The Gabba on Thursday, November 21.

Ahead of the Brisbane Test, Pakistan captain Azhar Ali on Wednesday (November 20) confirmed that the teen seamer will get his debut cap at The Gabba. He would earn the maiden Test call up to the Pakistan squad after impressing one and all with his sizzling bowling in the tour and practice matches in Australia last week.

Ali told reporters in Brisbane, “We are definitely looking to play him. He’s bowling really well. We’ll announce the side tomorrow (Thursday) but he’s definitely going to be part of it.”

Naseem, a schoolboy cricketer from Lower Dir district on the Afghanistan border, would leave former Australian captain Ian Craig behind to become the youngest test debutant on the Australian soil when he would take the field for the Men in Green in Brisbane.

Craig made his Test debut at 17 against South Africa in 1953 and went on to hit a half-century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in his debut match.

Noteworthy, Naseem has only seven first-class matches under his belt, but he would like to make the most of the bouncy and fast Brisbane wicket in his first test outing for Pakistan.
