Pakistan is neither intimidated by its poor record in Australia nor shy of unleashing its young quicks, said coach Misbah Ul Haq before the start of the two-match Test series, beginning November 21 in Brisbane. 

Misbah was captain at the time in 2016-17 season when on the last tour Pakistan suffered its fourth consecutive 3-0 whitewash down under. Three other main members of that squad, skipper Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam, still remain involved with the side that looks to rewrite history books in the next three weeks.

"Our previous record in Australia won't put us under pressure," Misbah told reporters. "If anything, it'll be an opportunity and motivation to win because whatever we couldn't achieve in the past, we can do now."

"It's a young and hungry team and it means business," he added. "This team wants to take the challenge. We want to give our best, play good cricket and think about winning."

Pakistan did start off the tour on a good note, though, performing well in the two warm-up encounters where batting prodigy Babar and 16-year-old pacer Naseem Shah caught everyone's attention. Naseem especially troubled quite a few of Australia's Test incumbents in Perth. 

However, that, Australia captain Tim Paine says, is "irrelevant" going into the first Test. 

"I saw that Pakistan are smelling blood in the water or whatever they said," he said. "What happened in Perth has got nothing to do with what is going to happen at the Gabba."

Australia rejigged its squad with some good changes post the Ashes in UK and Paine maybe also taking confidence from the fact that neither did Babar bat against someone of the quality of Pat Cummins nor Naseem bowled to a batsman of Steve Smith's class in the warm-up games. 

Pakistan has only twice drawn a series of multiple fixtures in Australia with its last Test win dating back to 1995 in Sydney.
