Australia A and Pakistan players wore black armbands on the second day of the ongoing three-day practice patch in Perth, as a mark of grief for the death of the mother of Pakistan's fast bowler Naseem Shah.

Taking to Twitter, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that the players from both sides wore black armbands as a mark of respect to Naseem’s mother while paying condolences to the teenage Pakistan bowler and his family.

CA wrote on Twitter, “Heartfelt condolences to Nasim Shah and his family. Both sides are wearing black armbands today in respect to Nasim's mother who passed away last night.”

The 16-year-old earned maiden international call-up for the two-match Test series in Australia, which will get underway from November 21 at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Having decided not to return to Pakistan for his mother's funeral, on day three of the warm-up match, Shah bowled with fire and made life difficult for Australia A's batsmen including Test veteran Usman Khawaja.

He was rewarded for his fiery spell with the wicket of Australian opener Marcus Harris with a lethal short pitched delivery.

Naseem can become the youngest player to play down under and ninth overall to play a Test match if he features in the upcoming Test series and Misbah-ul-Haq had also backed the teen to do well on the Australian soil.

Pakistan head coach was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au:We are looking forward to him bowling in Australian conditions which will give him some assistance with pace and bounce.”

He signed off, “Everyone is excited to get him in the team also and see how he bowls in Australia.”
