Stuart Broad and Jack Leach claimed four wickets each, helping England beat Australia by 135 runs in the fifth and the final Test at The Oval to level the Ashes 2-2. However, the visitors retained the urn on the basis of their last series win at home two seasons back.

Chasing 399 runs to win, Australia got off to a poor start as Stuart Broad dismissed both Marcus Harris and David Warner cheaply. Before lunch, the hosts got the prized scalp of Marnus Labuschagne, their most consistent batsman after Steve Smith, who failed to cross the 50-run mark for the first time in this series. While Jack Leach dismissed Labuschagne (14), Smith (23) was Broad’s third victim.

Apart from Matthew Wade, none of the Australia batsmen could pose challenges to the English bowlers. After Wade fell on 117, Leach ran through the tail-enders to bundle out the Aussies for 263.

Cricket experts on Twitter were mighty impressed by England’s domination in this Test match despite trailing in this series.
