ASHES 2019: WATCH – Steve Smith plucks a one-handed stunner at second slip to get rid of Chris Woakes

After mesmerizing one and all with his masterful batting, Australia’s Steve Smith gave the glimpse of his outstanding catching skills during the third day of the fifth Ashes Test against England at The Oval on Saturday (September 14).

In the 87th over of England innings, Chris Woakes was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh but all the credit for the wicket should go to Smith, who flew to his right to grab a stunning one-handed catch.

Smith was stationed at second slip as the ball was flying away from him after taking the thickish outside edge of Woakes’ bat. However, he plucked it out of thin air to send the entire ground to a standstill.

Coming to the match, Australia rode on Smith’s 80 to post 225 in the first innings after England amassed 294.

The hosts are placed at 313/8 in their second essay, securing a massive lead of 382 runs. They will look to extend their lead as much as possible on Day 4 in a bid to level the series 2-2.
