Australia opener David Warner is having a nightmare in the ongoing Ashes series against England. The southpaw has amassed 79 runs at an abysmal average of 11.28 in seven innings with pacer Stuart Broad proving to be his biggest nemesis.

Broad, who had dismissed Warner four times leading into the fourth Test, once again got the better of the left-hander in Australia’s first innings at Old Trafford on Wednesday (September 4).

Warner even failed to open his account on this occasion as it took the English pace spearhead just two deliveries to send him packing.

Before the start of visitors’ innings, Cricket Australia (CA) had tweeted: “David Warner resumes his battle with Stuart Broad... #Ashes”.

However, as soon as the opener was caught behind for a duck in the very first over of Broad, ICC quoted CA’s tweet and wrote: “This aged well #Ashes”.

It was Warner’s second consecutive duck after he bagged one in the second innings of Headingley Test, courtesy Broad trapping him plumb in front of the wicket.
