WI v IND 2019: Pathan hails Bumrah as "most important" member of the Indian team

Irfan Pathan rates Jasprit Bumrah as the most important member of the current Indian team and said the maiden Test hat-trick he took in the second Test against West Indies won't certainly be his last.

Bumrah picked up 13 wickets in India's 2-0 series whitewash, including the two outstanding spells of 5/7 and 6/16 in Antigua and Jamaica, respectively, to help his country gain crucial 120 points towards standings in the inaugural World Test Championship.

The hat-trick he took on Day 2 at the Sabina Park made him only the third Indian bowler behind Harbhajan Singh and Irfan himself to have done so in Test cricket.

"I really believe that he is the most important cricketer in the team," Irfan told IANS. "When Bumrah is not playing for India, it's a bigger loss than anybody else."

"He is such an important part of the team. Indian cricket is blessed to have a guy like him."

"India needs to look after him. He is kind of bowler who can be successful in all three formats of the game."

"I am pretty sure that this won't be his last hat-trick."

Irfan, who is now the mentor-cum-coach of the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team besides being a commentator, did inflict his own successive trio of wickets quite famously against Pakistan during the Karachi Test in 2006.

"It is out of the world feeling. You know that it doesn't happen regularly. Some players don't get to take a hat-trick in their career. Once you do that, you have achieved something rare," he added on his hat-trick.

"I would like to dedicate it to my family. It was so special and nothing would be possible without the support of my family."
