India’s middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari finally got what he was destined for, a Test century. He had come close in the first Test in Antigua as well but fell for 93 runs. However, when the opportunity presented itself for the second time in the Jamaica Test, Vihari grabbed it with both hands.
Vihari came into the middle after the fall of Rahane’s wicket. However, wickets kept falling around him, until walked in Ishant Sharma. The duo put on a century partnership for the 8th wicket out of which Ishant scored 57 runs. But Vihari kept pressing on, respecting the good balls and scoring off the bad ones.
He finally reached the landmark off 200 balls with 15 boundaries to his name. He finally fell for 111 runs, going for runs, giving Jason Holder his fifth wicket of the innings. Vihari’s century has more or less cemented his spot in the Indian Test playing XI, as he can also bowl as the fifth bowler of the team.
The cricket fraternity was elated at the performance of the Hyderabadi batsman in the Jamaica Test match and lauded his efforts on Twitter.
