Ashes 2019: Rajasthan Royals batting coach Amol Muzumdar recalls Ben Stokes' hard work in training during IPL

Muzumdar lauded Stokes for his work ethics.

The IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) batting coach Amol Muzumdar recalled the days when he was working with Ben Stokes in India’s premier T20 event after his Headingley heroics against Australia, claiming he has never seen any player working as hard at training than the England all-rounder.

The 28-year-old pulled off a historic win for England on 25th August with his incredible knock of 135* in the third Ashes 2019 Test against Australia and Muzumdar was just overwhelmed by the all-rounder’s work ethics and was just speechless with the way the left-hander trained.

Muzumdar told Times of India, “We spent a lot of time together this IPL season. I’ve seen many cricketers, but I’ve never seen anyone working as hard at his game than Stokes. His work ethics are unbelievable. When a player has that kind of a work ethic, the job of a coach becomes much easier.”

Meanwhile, the Mumbai cricketer also lauded Stokes for his hard work at training session even during the tight schedules of the IPL. He added, “He would bat for a couple of hours in the nets. There would be times when he would tell me to keep throwing the ball at him, which I didn’t mind! In every training session, he would request me to ‘push’ him a bit harder.”

Muzumdar signed off by saying, “After that, he would bowl for around 45 minutes, and that too at full tilt. There’s nothing called a ‘half-hearted’ effort with Stokes. either he’s there, or you will not find him. In the end, he would practice his fielding skills, and that too for an hour! In fielding sessions too, if you gave him an easy catch, he wouldn’t appreciate it!”
