Sri Lanka might just travel to Pakistan for a Test later this year following a "very positive feedback" from a security delegation that visited Lahore and Karachi.

The Island nation, says a report in ESPNcricinfo, can play one of the two Test matches of its scheduled tour to UAE in November in Pakistan, and in the process, become the first major full member to travel to Pakistani shores for a Test since the Lahore Terror attack in 2009 when the Sri Lankan team bus was targeted.

"The feedback we got from the security team was very positive. We'll be talking to the PCB about some alternatives before we arrive at a decision. The government will be consulted as well," SLC CEO Ashley de Silva was quoted as saying.

Pakistani fans have been starved for cricket for long with the national side unable to host international teams due to security reasons. Though, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been making praiseworthy efforts to bring regular top level cricket back by arranging an increased number of PSL games in the country every year, besides also hosting a few visiting teams for short limited overs tours since 2015.

Recently, PCB managing director Wasim Khan appealed to the MCC for joining the agenda for the sake of sport's future in the nation.

"It was a very positive meeting with the MCC. Shane Warne, Kumar Sangakkara and Mike Gatting, the chair of the committee, were present there," Wasim said.

"They wanted to me to present on the current security in the country, along with what impact playing no international cricket here has had, and what can be done to restore it."

"I am very, very confident that we will have an MCC team touring us in the near future. But, there are some matters related to security that need to be covered before they send their team. We will work very closely with the MCC to make sure that the tour happens."
