The Aussies were on top of their game as they handed a 251-run loss in the opening Test match of Ashes 2019 to the hosts England at their fortress in Edgbaston where they were unbeaten from 2008.

While the returning Steve Smith scored superb daddy hundreds in both the innings, the off-spinner Nathan Lyon stole the show on day 5 as he ran through the English line-up picking up 6-49 in 20 overs as the hosts were bundled out for mere 146, chasing 398 runs in the first match of the ICC World Test Championship.

With this huge defeat, England’s hopes of World Cup and Ashes double have taken a huge hit, on the other hand, Australia registered their first victory at Edgbaston in any format since 2001 and ended the home team’s streak of 11 successive wins at the venue.

As everyone hailed the 31-year-old right-arm off-spinner from New South Wales for his brilliant performance, the official Twitter handle of Sydney Sixers, a Big Bash League franchise tweeted a video of “Lyon King” got fans excited.
