The Southern Stars or the Australian women’s cricket team has made history by defeating England eves in the finals of the ICC Women’s World T20 in North Sound on November 25, 2018.
England captain Heather Knight won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision she came to regret by the time the game ended. Only Danielle Wyatt (43) and Knight herself (25) reached double figures as the rest of England batting crumbled under the brilliant bowling by Amy Gardner (3/22), Megan Schutt (2/13) and Georgia Wareham (2/11). England registered a paltry 105 on board.
Australia easily chased down the target with the loss of only two wickets, as Gardner (33*) and Lanning (28*) took them to their fourth World T20 title and established the Australian Women’s team as the most dominant team in the format without any doubt.
The Australian cricket fraternity was elated with the achievement of their women’s cricket team and took to Twitter to congratulate them.
