Indian Women’s Cricket Team pacer Pooja Vastrakar has been ruled out of the ongoing 2018 ICC World T20 in West Indies due to a knee injury on Saturday (November 17).

India has named Devika Vaidya as a replacement for injured Vastrakar and the ICC event technical committee of the Women’s World Twenty20 2018 has approved the replacement.

Vastrakar suffered a knee injury during a warm-up match against the hosts, but she had been a part of the India squad without playing a game in the tournament, was eventually withdrawn from the squad.

It will be a major blow for India's most-capped T20I pacer in the squad, as Vastrakar was targeting a return to the international cricket with the mega ICC event after an ankle injury caused her to miss the Women's Challenger trophy and the Sri Lanka series.

Meanwhile, the all-rounder Vaidya, who has played one T20I for India so far, is expected to join the national set-up in time for the semi-finals to be played in Antigua on 22 November.

India will next take on Australia in their final group game on Saturday (November 17) at Providence Stadium, Guyana aiming to finish at the top of Group B in the tournament.

Noteworthy, India and Australia in their group have already qualified for the semi-finals of the World T20, with both encounters to be played on November 22 followed by final on November 24 at Antigua.
