It was India’s maiden Day-Night Test and the opening batter rose to the occasion. She was batting on a sublime 80 when inclement weather brought an early end to the opening day.

On Day 2, Mandhana continued her brilliance with the willow and went on to hit her first ton in the longest format in her fourth Test appearance.

The southpaw displayed her class as she dominated all the bowlers on her way to 127 before being dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner. Her knock was studded with 22 fours, 1 six and it has put the visitors in a commanding position.

For her stellar showing with the bat, Smriti Mandhana garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.

During the course of her innings, Mandhana shared a 93-run opening stand with Shafali Verma (31) and then stitched a 102-run partnership for the second wicket with Punam Raut (36).

Thanks to her ton, India went into the Dinner break on Day 2 with 231/3 on the board after 84 overs.
