INDW v SAW 2021: South Africa women win rain-affected ODI by 6 runs thanks to Lizelle Lee’s 132*

South Africa Women leads the 5-match series 2-1.

The third WODI was played at the same venue, Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, and saw South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt winning the toss and choosing to chase.

Shabnim Ismail removed Jemimah Rodrigues for a duck and Sekhukhune got Smriti Mandhana out for 25. However, Punam Raut came to the party with 77 in 108 balls with 11 fours.

Indian cricket fraternity reacts as Mithali Raj becomes country’s 1st woman cricketer to score 10,000 international runs

She got support from captain Mithali Raj, who made 36 and in the process also completed 10,000 runs in international cricket. She became the first Indian and second women cricketer overall to achieve this feat.

South Africa got a revised target of 218 runs from 46.3 overs due to rain interruption.

Lizelle Lee made 132* | TwitterLizelle Lee smashed 132* with 16 fours and 2 sixes in 131 balls to keep South Africa ahead of the D/L method. Mignon du Preez made 37 and South Africa was 223/4 in 46.3 overs when they achieved the revised target and won the match by 6 runs.

Jhulan Goswami continued her good form picking 2/20 in her 9 overs. South Africa leads the series 2-1 with two more matches to go. Lizelle Lee got the Player of the Match award for her unbeaten century.
