MIthali Raj made 50 | BCCIThe first ODI of the five-match series between India women and South Africa women’s team was played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

South Africa captain Sune Luus won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mithali Raj made 50 in 85 balls and Harmanpreet Kaur made 40 in 41 balls. Deepti Sharma also made 27 runs as India managed 177/9 in 50 overs.

Shabnim Ismail picked 3/28, while Nonkululeko Mlaba took 2/41 for South African women.

In reply, Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt added 169 runs for the first wicket. Lee made 83* in 122 balls with 11 fours and 1 six, while Wolvaardt made 80 in 110 balls with 12 fours to her name. South Africa reached the target in 40.1 overs, despite Jhulan Goswami picking 2/38 in her 10 overs.

Shabnim Ismail was named the Player of the Match.
