Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu, a same-sex couple from New Zealand Women’s cricket team, on Thursday (January 16) announced the arrival of their child, as the couple introduced the baby girl as Grace Marie Satterthwaite to the world on the social media.

Satterthwaite, the captain of the New Zealand women's cricket team, and her teammate Tahuhu got married in 2017 March at Hammer Springs in a low-key wedding with an intimidate gathering of family and friends since the LGBT marriage is legal in New Zealand from August 2013.

Last year in August, the same-sex couple of the Women’s Cricket who are together since 2010 had announced that they were expecting their first child and Satterthwaite revealed that she would be taking time away from cricket and captaining the White Ferns ahead of Grace's birth.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Tahuhu announced the arrival of baby Grace Marie Satterthwaite who was born earlier this week with a heartfelt post to Instagram.

Along with a picture of the newborn, she shared a post with a caption: “Amy and I are excited to announce the arrival of Grace Marie Satterthwaite, born 13th January. We are so grateful and couldn't be happier #babysatterhuhu”

Satterthwaite earlier had said, “I am very lucky to have great support from NZC with regard to taking a break from the game to have a family. I feel I still have a lot to give to the game and look forward to working my way back with an eye on the 2021 ICC Women's World Cup held in New Zealand.”

Noteworthy, Amy and Lea are not the only same-sex couple in the Women’s Cricket as, New Zealand all-rounder Hayley Jensen and Australian cricketer Nicola Hancock joined the list along with South African women’s team captain Dane van Niekerk and her teammate Marizanne Kapp.
