Taapsee Pannu confirmed to star in Mithali Raj's biopic “Shabaash Mithu”

Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu is all set to play the role of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj on-screen and the biopic will be titled “Shabaash Mithu”.

December 3 marks the birthday of Mithali and to make the occasion special, Taapsee announced the upcoming project on social photo site Instagram.

She shared a number of pictures in which Mithali can be seen cutting a cake. In the caption, Taapsee wrote: "Happy Happy Birthday Captain @mithaliraj! You have made all of us proud in more than many ways and it’s truly an honour to be chosen to showcase your journey on screen. On this Birthday of yours I don’t know what gift I can give you but this promise that I shall give it all I have to make sure you will be proud of what you see of yourself on screen with #ShabaashMithu. PS- I am all prepared to learn THE cover drive’ #HappyBirthdayCaptain."


Mithali, who turned 37 on Tuesday, has the experience of more than 20 years in international cricket.

Having made her international debut in June 1999, Raj has represented India in 10 Tests, 209 ODIs and 89 T20Is. She called time on her T20I career in September this year but still going strong in the other two formats.

While Mithali has scored 663 runs in Test cricket at an impressive average of 51 with 1 century and 4 fifties, she boasts 6888 runs to her name in the 50-over format at 50.64 including 7 tons and 53 half-centuries.
