Pakistani star spinner Sana Mir announces break from international cricket

Sana Mir, Pakistan's star spinner and former women’s team captain, has on Wednesday, November 20, announced a break from international cricket to reset her 'future objectives and targets'.

The 33-year-old also confirmed that she would not be available for selection for the upcoming ICC Women's Championship ODIs and T20Is against England starting from December 9.

In a statement, Sana confirmed: “I have decided to take a break from international cricket and, as such, will not be available for selection for next month's series against England. I will utilize this time to plan and reset my future objectives and targets.”

Meanwhile, Mir, who was part of the Pakistan Women probables announced for the England tour of three ODIs followed by three T20Is in Kuala Lumpur, wished good luck to the team for the upcoming series, while expressing confidence that Pakistan will do well against England Women.

She signed off by saying, “My best wishes will remain with the Pakistan national women's team in the series against England and I am sure they'll produce their best cricket.”

Since making her debut in 2005, Sana has played 120 ODIs and 106 T20Is for Pakistan so far – in which she managed to 151 wickets and 89 scalps respectively in both formats of the game. Noteworthy, the spinner was last seen in action against Bangladesh earlier this month.
