India beat West Indies by 59 runs (DLS method) in the second ODI at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain yesterday and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan's poor form continued and he got out for just 2 runs in the first over. Virat Kohli started playing good shots from the first ball itself and looked in command of the situation. Rohit Sharma also struggled for timing and got out for 18 runs off Roston Chase's bowling.

Rishabh Pant also failed to convert his start but Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer's 125 runs stand put India in a good position. Virat Kohli brought up his 42nd hundred and was dismissed by Brathwaite for 120 runs. In the end India couldn't score quick runs and finished on 279/7 in 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer also played a handy 71 runs knock.

In reply, Evin Lewis gave a good start to his team but Chris Gayle failed once again and got out for just 11 runs. Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer also perished off cheaply and at 92/3 West Indies were in trouble. Evin Lewis brought up his fifty but couldn't convert it into a big knock. Due to rain the target was set at 270 runs in 46 overs but West Indies batsmen couldn't handle the pressure and kept losing wickets and eventually they were bowled out for 210 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 4 wickets.
