The playing surface employed for the second West Indies versus England Test at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium in Antigua has been given a "below average" rating by ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe.

According to the pitch and outfield monitoring process of sport's world governing body, Antigua has received one demerit point that will remain active for a five-year period. In this phase, if the venue collects four more demerit points, then it can be banned from hosting International cricket for one year.

"Crowe cited the uneven bounce at the Southern main Pavilion end as the reason for the rating in his report, which has been forwarded to Cricket West Indies," the official media release stated.

Pace quartet of Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, and captain Jason Holder ran through the visitors' batting lineup for 187 and 132 across the two innings as hosts eventually won by ten wickets to go 2-0 up in the three-match Test series.

But players from both the sides complained about the pitch that offered exaggerated seam movement as well as uneven bounce.
