Bangladesh on Sunday (February 9) created history by winning their maiden Under-19 World Cup as they defeated India in the final with a three-wicket margin.

Opting to bowl first, the Boys in Green bowled out India for a paltry 177 in 47.2 overs. Avishek Das (3/40), Shoriful Islam (2/31) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/28) were the stand-out bowlers for Bangladesh on the big day.

In the chase, Bangladesh were in trouble with India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi bowling a superb spell full of googlies to reduce them to 102/6 at one stage. But skipper Akbar Ali's unbeaten 43 helped them get past the line via DLS method as rain halted play towards the end.

After the match, India pacer Jaydev Unadkat took to Twitter and congratulated the Bangladeshi U-19 team for a historic achievement. However, apart from praising Akbar and company, the left-armer took an indirect dig at senior Bangladesh cricketer – Mushfiqur Rahim.

“Well done Bangladesh for winning the U-19 World Cup! Read about how they worked to build this team since the last 2 years.. good for their future and for the game in whole! Also loved how their captain did not celebrate before actually winning the match.. learning from seniors,” Unadkat tweeted.

It is worth mentioning here that Mushfiqur often gets trolled for his pre-mature celebration. During the 2016 T20 World Cup clash against India, the Bangladesh batsman had celebrated without achieving the target and his team eventually lost the match by one run.
