T20WC 2020: ICC confirms that Men's T20 World Cup 2020 to go ahead 'as planned'

International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 will go ahead as scheduled from 18 October, in Australia.

All major cricket tournaments across the globe have taken a hit because of the widespread pandemic Coronavirus and currently, there is no international cricket played anywhere in the world. In fact, almost all countries have stopped domestic cricket as well to protect their players or their families get affected.

However, ICC has released a statement that mentions that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, which is the only men’s ICC event this year, will go ahead as planned and an authorized committee is already seeing to it that everything is in order for the event.

ICC’s statement read, “In response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organising Committee is monitoring the situation closely with relevant authorities, and will continue to do so. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 18 October - 15 November 2020 in seven venues across Australia. We are planning for the event to go ahead as scheduled.

This will be a relief to all the T20 fans around the world and the cricketers as well who will be eagerly waiting to get back in action as soon as the pandemic goes down.
