West Indies Women captain Stafanie Taylor has been ruled out of her team’s final ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 clash against South Africa Women to be played on Tuesday (March 3) in Sydney with a groin injury on Monday (March 2).

Taylor injured her groin during West Indies' 49-run loss to England Women in a T20 World cup 2020 clash on Sunday (March 1) at The Sydney Showground in Sydney.

Batting on 15, the 28-year-old all-rounder struggled to run in the middle to keep her team’s hopes of chasing 144 and England Women, though, she eventually collapsed and had to be stretchered off.

Following the departure of their in-form captain, the 2016 champions were bundled out for 97 and with the defeat, West Indies crashed out of the T20 World cup 2020 in the group stage on Sunday.

West Indies coach Gus Logie said of Taylor: “I have to get my XI on the field first. Right now we're struggling. The captain is out of the tournament, no two ways about it. We've had other players who've had issues reoccurring as the tour went on. We are hoping to put a fit XI on the field first.”

Logie signed off by saying, “Britney Cooper was limping, she twisted her ankle a little. We had [Chinelle] Henry who wasn't available [for England] game because of a recurrence of something that happened in the past. We've had a few setbacks this tour to key players.”

Noteworthy, West Indies has won only one game in the ongoing tournament against Thailand so far, and they would certainly want to end their campaign on a positive note Tuesday.
