Women’s T20WC 2020: Captain Heather Knight’s 108* helps England rout Thailand by 98 runs

This was Knight's first hundred in WT20Is.

Knight and Sciver added 169* runs for the third wicket | GettyThe 7th match of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 saw England take on Thailand. Thai captain Sornnarin Tippoch won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The decision proved to be right at the start as both openers Wyatt and Jones were dismissed for ducks. But Natalie Sciver, who made 59* with 8 fours and Heather Knight added 169* runs for the third wicket to take England to 176/2 in 20 overs. England skipper Knight remained unbeaten on 108 in 66 balls with 13 fours and 4 sixes.

In reply, Thai opener Nattakan Chantam top-scored with 32, while two others reached double figures. But their batting was no match for the England bowling, as they couldn’t chase the total down and could only manage 78/7 in their 20 overs. Anya Shrubsole picked 3/21, while Sciver took 2/5. England won the match by 98 runs.

Heather Knight was named Player of the Match.
