Women's T20WC 2020: Bowlers shine once again as India defeat Bangladesh in their 2nd match

India defeated Bangladesh by 18 runs in their second game of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 at the WACA Ground in Perth on Monday (February 24).

Asked to bat first, the Women in Blue posted 142/6 in 20 overs. Shafali Verma was the top-scorer with 17-ball 39 while Veda Krishnamurthy played an unbeaten cameo of 20 from 11 balls.

For Bangladesh, skipper Salma Khatun and Panna Ghosh claimed two wickets each by conceding 25 runs in their stipulated four overs.

In reply, Bangladesh managed to score 124/8 in their 20 overs. India bowlers led Poonam Yadav once again starred in the victory. While Poonam picked up 3 for 18 in her four overs, Shikha Pandey (2/14) and Arundhati Reddy (2/33) took two scalps apiece.

Nigar Sultana (35 off 26 balls) was the only one to cross the 30-run mark in Bangladesh’s innings.

India Women 142/6 in 20 overs (Shafali Verma 39; Salma Khatun 2-25) defeated Bangladesh Women 124/8 in 20 overs (Nigar Sultana 35; Poonam Yadav 3-18) by 18 runs.
